Tim H.'s Story

What can I say about school other than I was never cut out to follow rules and I got by without any real brain work, although I could have excelled had it truly been important to me. After Madison, I would basically drop in on classes that someway interested Me. Regardless of my reasons, School was simply School. Maybe if I had participated more or was more outgoing . , I may have spent more time there. I however was more concerned with the Politics and who had the best Smoke and other such mind bending items . Such was my so called wasted years , ha ha . Those I can truly say I miss . I did have to start going to some BS continueing Education . My professional credentials required it a couple years after returning stateside . I saw little point in more education so I could continue to have a few Professional licenses hanging on the wall so I could look at them and recall when I truly took work so serious that it may have been the #1 thing in my life .It took about 30 minutes to get that kind of thinking changed, while argueing with one of the Pakistanis on my Crew, to set me on the right course. I was pushing to get a job done during a serious sand storm in which you would be lucky to see 20 feet away. His name was Nawab, & He just threw his arms up and took off for his tent as I headed to my place of peace . We were down in the big dunes, dead in the worst part of the empty quarter, when I got this tap on my caravan door. It was my friend Nawab. He was a solid bull of a Man and I had all I was going to take when he came, shut the door, and went to my stove to brew up a pot of tea. Not a word was said as I sat at the table and was totally worn out from fighting the elements. Nawab stuck out his hand and I took it. We shook hands in an effort to let each man know he had the other's respect. He looked me right in the eyes and with a voice so kind I had never really heard a man speak to me in such a manner. "Mr.TIM,this is no ones fault;this is simply our life as God creates all things and this is not bad or good. It is a way for a Man to show the way he deals with all things beyound control and we get a chance to show the ones around us what kind of Men we are and that is a wonderful gift." From that moment on I have let all things that do not breath take a back seat to those that do . My entire value system changed and I made a promise from that day forward that I would no longer play the GAME, about what ever object others may think would impress someone; if I was not ready to give it all up to help someone out and bring back a spark of the Human that was simply down and could use a bit of respect, regardless of how minor it may seem to others. I have been back in Oklahoma and I quit drinking a drop of liquor for 24 years now and I have yet to let this country of self indulgence make me falter from the values I picked up 29 yrars ago . Just one more good adventure and that would be the capper for this weary traveller .You see I been doing some hard travlin . . . I thought you knowd . . . ! College: College was simply a quick fix to a chance obtaining a poffesional license by taking a test that would eventually give you the rigt to practice what you had probably already been doing in order to make money to survive . All you truly get is a paper with your name on it and a seal so you can hang it on a wall as though you now know more than you did prior to taking that little test . Now you can be liable for any errors that are made and you have to deal with a bunch of worthless government engineers and E.I.T. or the Dept. of Trans./ C...Expand for more
.of E. and all the others that sit on their thumb while 5 to 10 percent carry the load of the entire bunch of the Walking/Sitting Dead that all of us tax payers support . I am sure that I insulted a lot of you who pretend to get by like this and I am glad if I did . I have not only dealt with too many of you while I was in Private Business , but I actually was hired to help catch up on clients who had been waiting for as long as five years to get the final 15% that was held until the red tape people were satisfied . I was asked to work for them to do all the calcs on dirt quantities because they had purchased some software (CEAL)and no one could understand it . I finished all the claims for the people I had worked for and after they were paid , I quit . Now for the real truth :If you have some sort of idea about how totally lazy and ignorant these State Government Depts. are . . . . , take that and multiply it by 100 then add almost every embezzelment , conspiracy , favoritism law that can be broken (not to mention that most inspectors rarely get out of their trucks) and you may have an Idea of what civil service is all about.I am not just speaking of one or two states , but everyone I worked in and that would be a good 1/3 of this country. Enough of that for this will never change until those who pay the taxes get wise and take an interest in where the money goes . I have eplained my work in Engineering , Land Surveying , Geodetic Surveying , and that I did several years of work for the D.O.D. and the K.S.A. prior to the first Gulf War , Desert Storm , and then again updated some info in later years , recently . I think all that I truly can think of or mention has been said here and in my Life Bio . All I truly have to say about Work , is : Do not loose perspective of what is truly important in a the values that you have . Put work where you will but never let it get above your Family or Integrity . . . , just something I learned somewhere ? Workplace Oklahoma :( 71 - 77 ) Became Professional Land Surveyor then Professional Engineer - ( 87 - 2000 ) Started Engineering/Land Surveying Company . ( 5 / 2000 ) Retired / shut down business in 2000. Middle East : (77 - 80) Design and Construction Engineer - In Charge of Equiptment Mobilization on Well Site Blow-Outs ( Roads & Well Sites Division of ARAMCO ) . ( 81 - 86 ) Worked with Government Affairs and Dept. of Defence pertaining to any & all Intelligence in N/E Quad of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia . Recorded all data - Debriefed and returned to Oklahoma (86) .I basically did work that would influence the use of the new smart weapons in 91 and again 2004. I was called on again to be debriefed about what all I knew would still be useful(inplace and undamaged) to the military again when the second Iraqi war took place. I no longer get involved in this Political Insanity and simply do my best to avoid any talk that brings up the Pesonal Opinions of Others. As they say, "Opinios are like ________, Everyone has One" and I respect that Personal Right. regardless of the way I differ from Others! I do draw the line at those who have such poor manners as to Judge anyone who is simply trying to survive in a way that may be a bit odd, but they are doing the best they can. I am now 58 and life is simply a setting for Me to treat Others with Respect, Dignity, & try My best to Help Those who may need some Kindness. Life has been a facinating adventure for me and I have learned to Listen and Observe before opening my mouth or saying anything that could hurt another's Feelings. That's it for now, 2010.
